Legal Document Review and Contract Intelligence

For legal and compliance teams that cannot read contracts as fast as the business signs them.

Powered by Lexa

Business value

Gives legal and compliance teams a faster, defensible way to work through document volume, so review capacity stops being the bottleneck on business decisions.

Legal and compliance teams often cannot review contracts, policies, and regulatory filings as fast as the business generates them, which slows decisions and leaves risk sitting unreviewed for longer than it should. Lexa is an MII-built capability pattern that helps teams work through that document volume with confidence: it answers plain-language questions about a document set, flags clauses that deviate from approved templates, and points every answer back to its source passage so a reviewer can verify it in seconds. Lexa is built on Azure OpenAI Service for reasoning and Azure AI Search for retrieval, so responses stay grounded in the organisation's own documents rather than general knowledge.

Where it helps

  • Reviewing contracts and vendor agreements against approved clause libraries
  • Answering policy and regulatory questions from an indexed document set
  • Preparing legal summaries for non-legal stakeholders before a decision meeting

What the pattern does

  • Retrieval-grounded question answering over legal and compliance documents
  • Clause and deviation detection against approved templates
  • Citation-backed responses that point back to the source document

The challenge

Legal and compliance teams spend hours searching contracts, policies, and regulations, then still need to compare clauses, verify obligations, and document the review trail. Manual review is slow, inconsistent, and difficult to audit at scale.

What was built

LEXA connects legal workflows to approved organizational documents, retrieves the most relevant clauses or references, drafts and reviews with source context, and keeps each answer traceable for audit and final human review.

What changed

An assistant that drafts, reviews, compares, and reasons over legal documents while showing the source context behind each response and preserving the trail needed for reviewer confidence.

Why it matters

Faster document review, more consistent interpretation, stronger audit readiness, and less time lost searching across long contracts, policies, and regulatory material.
